Bucshon Files FEC Finance Report

With his official campaign announcement happening just a couple months earlier, Larry Bucshon, a candidate for Congress in Indiana’s 8th Congressional District, raised over $100,000 by the first fundraising deadline, as indicated in his campaign finance report filed with the Federal Election Commission. The first fundraising deadline, December 31, 2009, demonstrated the growing strength and energy behind this citizen-led campaign.

Mr. Bucshon stated, “I am very encouraged by all of the citizens who are responding to our campaign of common sense solutions with their time and money. Clearly, Hoosiers are concerned about the direction the Democrat majority in Washington is taking our nation.”

According to the finance report, over $100,000 was raised in the fourth quarter, with over ninety-six percent (96%) of the contributors residing in the 8th district and ninety-five percent (95%) of the contributors being individuals. No 8th district candidate in recent memory has raised such a substantial portion of contributions from inside the district or relied so heavily on the support of individuals.

Bucshon left no doubt about what the report says of his campaign. “This is clearly a citizen-driven campaign fueled by grassroots support right here in Southern Indiana. Voters in the 8th district can rest assured that I will be beholden only to them. I do not, and will not, take marching orders from Washington, D.C.”
